Friday Night Shabby Chic (ness)

I came across a challenge for the weekend to create something Shabby Chic.  I gathered a snack and drink and went up to my craft room and got busy.  I made these DIY embellishments with an adhesive backed circle base and then glued the ribbon, trim, or pearls carefully around the base.  Then I added trim or an embellishment to finish them off.  These were pretty simple to create and so much fun.  I also created a card to begin using one of the embellishments.  Check out the video of my creations at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MhfcYNA26MU Try it yourself!

St Patrick's Day Wreath

Who doesn't love a pretty wreath? Some of the prices that are attached to those pre-made wreaths though makes me second think having wreaths for most holidays. With the emergence of Pinterest and the Dollar Tree having most supplies available for every occasion, I decide where there is a will there is a way. The only thing I purchased away from the Dollar Tree was the actual foam wreath because I wanted my wreath a certain size and consistency but there are wreaths sold there. I used a coupon as one should always do at Michaels's unless the item is already on sale. Then I took some twine that I had in my stash that was also a Dollar Tree purchase and wrapped the twine to cover the entire wreath. Next I gathered my goodies from the Dollar Tree and organized how I wanted the wreath to look when finished. I purchased the hat only for the lettering. A dollar for some firm sparkly letters I figured it was worth it. I used the foam squares to make a rainbow and instead o...

Custom Tic Tac Toe game

What is more classic and timeless than a game of Tic Tac Toe? I have an addiction to these linen/burlap bags that are sold in the target dollar shop. With each holiday and season the bags offered tends to differ and I keep looking for ideas to utilize my obsession. For this project I grabbed some of the flat bottom marbles/pebbles from my stash that can be found at the dollar tree and also grabbed a marker and ruler. I folded a piece of cardstock and placed it in the middle of the bag while drawing my lines for the grid. I flipping over the bag and hot glued a flower on the other side of the bag before I took the piece of card stock out from between the bag. Next I utilized some of my letter stickers from previous projects and used clear glue to affix on the X's and O's. I used several coats of clear glue and allowed time for each to dry.  I ended up adding a row bling to the bottom of the bag for added effect.  With a tag tied on the end of the bag, this p...

Mother's Day Mason Jars

I think my craft niche is personalization and one day I dream of coming up with a awesome product to help me capitalize on that but on the mean time I'll enjoy it on a small level. Lol. The mason jar trend has really took off lately but I like to add my own spin to things as many of us crafters do. I used some etching cream and cut vinyl out with my cricut to place names on the jars to set them. I took off the seals on the lid and glued flowers to the top as I found some pearl/bling sticker trim at Michael's to around the rim. I purchased some sparkly filler also at Michael's to shine up the inside as I put a few rhinestones on the names themselves. The ribbon on the outside is some holiday ribbon I purchased from Hobby Lobby many moons ago that I just had in my stash. I love wired ribbon as such because there's no wrong way to bend it. 😀 On the ribbon I attached a sliding mirror I purchased from the travel section in Walmart as the contents on the inside of the jars...

Lollipops

I was supposed to attend a party over the weekend for my husband's uncle.  It was for his 60th birthday and it was a surprise party.  I was offered to provide something crafty if I wanted and I was happy to do so.  I decided I wanted to make something for all the guests to take home for themselves. I walked around in A.C. Moore and saw that the Wilton lollipop kits were on clearance.  I thought that lollipops would be a great choice since I had to make something for upwards of 200 people and the cost would be real low with this choice.  The kit included white ribbon for the bows and the label stickers to stick directly on the lollipops.  I wanted to do a craft spin on them so I cut out 2 inch squares and corner rounded each one.  Then I took glue dots and glued each square to cover the lollipop.  I tied the bow around the bottom and bought additional blue ribbon to tie at the end.  I think they came out real cute.  I was told they w...

Long time coming

Its been years since I tried to blog and recently I felt the need to share my struggle with lupus, my journey with natural hair, my craft projects, and just personal thoughts and experiences.  Hopefully I can make myself commit to building a strong group of others who may enjoy the same activities or who share in my struggles that I go through daily.  I want to provide a candid look at my crabby, chaotic life of crafts, curls, and lupie (ness).  Since lupus sucks.   TFR (thanksforreading)- Mell

Just Because Card

I created this card using Ranger Holographic Embossing Powder it is such a cute card that I thought I should share it.  The colors just seemed to flow together and I had fun doing it.  My camera sucks but I don't plan on investing in a better one any time soon,  here is a pic of the final results.  Be blessed - Mell
